About This Course
Jesus declared He came to fulfill the Law (Torah) and the Prophets. (Matthew 5:17) The Greek word translated as “fulfill” means to fill something that was only partially filled. This suggests that His life and purpose can only be understood in the light of the Old Testament. He also told the Pharisees, “if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, because Moses wrote about Me.” (John 5:46) This raises the question: where did Moses write about Him? While there are a few specific prophetic verses that clearly point to Jesus, many believe that the entire Torah—the five books of Moses—and much of the rest of the Old Testament serve as a portrait of Him and His ways. Each of the five sacrifices offered in the Tabernacle and Temple depict a facet of Jesus's work, and taken together form a complete picture of His redemptive work. This course will explore each sacrifice and present Biblical examples in order to enhance our understanding of how they point to Jesus.
